Every concussion is different. If you get a concussion, your healthcare provider and your school’s certified athletic trainer will work with you to determine how long you need to rest and which activities to avoid. This is what you MIGHT need to do—and not do—while recovering.

  • Stay off the phone
  • Wear sunglasses when you’re outside
  • Stay home from school for a few days or only go for half days
  • Make a plan with your teachers to cut down on schoolwork
  • Don’t drive
  • Don’t text, play video games, or go online
  • Don’t go out with friends
  • Don’t play any sports, in or out of school, or do any activities like biking or skateboarding, until your healthcare provider says it’s okay
